British education system implemented in India was essentially a Christian education system. It was run by a battalion of Christian missionaries. Their sole objective was to transform Hindoos into Christianity.
Lord Babington Macaulay, the first baron of the erstwhile British Empire, had spelt it out very clearly that it must eliminate ancient Hindu Education System and Hindoo Culture. This was the only way he saw that could enable British to rule India.
