The following mail arrived in my mailbox today. I have reproduced it for your ready reference.
My comments appear thereafter. Names and addresses of originators and forwarders have been reproduced
separately in the notes area after my commentaries.
The basic problem is people do not use their head. It has been positioned at the top most
section of human body not for cosmetic purposes but for thinking independently. But then, it
is their misfortune that they have been victim of Christian Missionary Education System for
past six generations. It has discouraged independent thinking in every manner possible. It cemented
the illusion that today's educated people make well informed decisions.
So let us look at a typical informed decision that follows. What it demonstrates that how
very blindly people tend to follow the
trail least bothering to apply their common sense. Common-sense has become pretty uncommon
these days with overload of formal education and information explosion. However the victims
themselves are so very proud that they are well educated and information is on their finger
tips!
So, here we go with the email that arrived to make many more like me a bit wiser than we
were:
"TWO SUBJECT LINES of which to be AWARE. Just verified
this with Snopes and it is REAL.
ALSO WENT TO TRUTH OR FICTION, IT'S on their site also.. PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE you know!
1.) Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you
open these emails your computer will crash and you will not be able to fix it! If you get
an e-mail along the lines of 'Osama Bin Laden Captured' or 'Osama Hanged', don't open the
Attachment!!!! This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but
mainly in the US and Israel. Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you
know.
2.) You should be alert during the next few days: Do not open any message with an attached
file called 'Invitation' regardless of who sent it. It is a virus that opens an Olympic
Torch which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer!!!! This virus will be received
from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list, that is why you should
send this E-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than
to receive the virus and open it. If you receive an e-mail called 'invitation', even though
sent by a friend. Do not open it!!! This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been
classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by
McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus.. This virus simply
destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where other vital information is kept.
SEND THIS E-MAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!!"

Please verify yourself the source quoted
before forwarding to others. Following images are reproduced from
http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/osama.asp.
If you click on the smallest image below you can see what is printed within highlighted area
(red box). That should tell you whether the originator truly verified it as s/he claimed.
I am sure you guys would have forwarded it dutifully to many more thinking that you have
stumbled on a very valuable piece of information and you are doing a great service to others
by forwarding it. Don't you think you have actually wasted other peoples time and misguided
them? Please be considerate about the value of other peoples time. Would it be too much to ask?
Summary
So you see how the educated mass suffers from
Parrot Humanoid Syndrome?
The aforesaid mail arrived in my mailbox after having been circulated among
so many people and every one blindly followed
the course. This is another example of what I call as
Parrot Humanoid Syndrome.
